How to Fit Your Shock Doctor Mouth Guard
For the best fit and retention, carefully follow the fitting instructions below.
1. Prepare the Water
Heat water to approximately 60–65°C (140–150°F). Do not boil the water.
2. Soften the Mouthguard
Place the mouthguard in the hot water with the detailed side facing up for approximately 30–40 seconds.
3. Position the Mouthguard
Remove the mouthguard carefully using a slotted spoon. Keep it flat and make sure it does not fold over. Using a mirror, align the centre guide with your front teeth and place the mouthguard over your upper teeth.
4. Mould to Your Teeth
Bite down gently to create the initial impression. Use your tongue to press the back of the mouthguard against the inside of your teeth. At the same time, use your fingers to press the outside of the mouthguard against your teeth and gums through your lips.
5. Create a Vacuum Fit
Close your lips and gently suck out the air and moisture around the mouthguard. Continue for approximately 45–60 seconds while the material begins to harden.
6. Set the Fit
Remove the mouthguard and place it into cold water for approximately 30 seconds to fully set the mould.
